Why I Have Chosen the Profession of Engineer. 

I believe that the choice of the future profession is one of the most important decisions in a person’s life. It is especially important nowadays, when the life has become very active and dynamic, so that it is impossible to waste your time on things you have no interest in. As for me, I have decided not only to get a diploma in engineering, but also to work as an engineer after graduating from the university. 

There are several reasons for why I have chosen this profession. First of all I have always had gift for technical subjects rather than for the humanities. In spite of the fact that to work as an engineer is not so easy, I am sure that I’ll cope with all the difficulties, because such work appeals to me. The thing is that it is very interesting for me to cope with difficult situations and find right solutions to the problems. I am sure I’ll never be bored by the job of an engineer, because my personal characteristics suit this profession. 

Secondly, I have to admit that my parents have also influenced me a little. To be more exact they didn’t just tell me which profession to chose. But what they asked me to do was to decide in favour of specialty where the contest is not very tense. At the same time this profession should have been reliable, promising and by all means serious. I think that the profession of engineer combines in itself all these characteristics, so I’ve managed to fulfill my parents’ will. 

Thirdly, my choice depended on the university that I was going to enter. It is well-known, that VSTU is one of the best universities in our city. Besides, it is one of the best technical educational institutions in our country, which is respected by our colleagues from St. Petersburg or Moscow. I would like also to mention the lecturers and teachers, who really make it possible to get such high standards. I am certainly lucky to deal with such people, because they make me sure that I’ll get a proper education and will be prepared for work. 

But to tell the truth the most important reason for my choice was the question of how perspective this profession is. It’s not a secret anymore that engineers are needed in our society badly. At the present time there is a slight overdose of economists and managers, for who it has become very difficult to find a job. Unlike such professionals an engineer can find a vacancy much easier. Moreover, it is implied that a good specialist can have a brilliant career. If you do your job promptly, if you show your best and have enough energy, you can have as well good prospects of promotion. By nature I am an ambitious person, that’s why in my opinion having an ability to move up the career ladder is the main requirement for a job. 

Although this profession is not the most prestigious at the moment it seems to become one. A lot of specialists forecast engineers to become the most popular profession among employers. And even though engineers earn quite good money, this profession is going to become better paid. Honestly speaking it is an essential need for every young specialist to know, that his job can provide him with enough money to live on. My main life goal is to become financially independed, which means be able to support myself and live a full life. For this reason I hope that I’ve made the right decision. 

In the end I would like to add that the profession of an engineer is closely connected with the economy of the country. The better it is developed, the more engineers it needs. I wish that our country is as prosperous a sit only can, and that all professions find their own place in the sun.

Я уверена, что выбор будущей профессии  – одно из самых важных решений  в жизни человека. Это особенно важно сегодня, когда жизнь стала очень активной и динамичной, так что невозможно тратить свое время на вещи, которые тебе не интересны. Что касается меня, я решила не только получить диплом инженера, но и работать инженером после окончания университета. 

Есть несколько  причин, почему я выбрала эту профессию. Прежде всего я всегда была склонна больше к техническим предметам, чем к гуманитарным. Не смотря на то, что работать инженером не так уж легко, я уверена, что справлюсь во всеми трудностями, так как эта работа мне нравится.  Дело в том, что мне интересно справляться с трудностями и находить правильное решение проблемам. Я уверена, что мне никогда не будет скучно на работе инженера, потому что мои личные качества подходят для этой профессии.  

Во-вторых, должна признать, что мои родители также повлияли на меня немного. Точнее, они не просто сказали мне, какую профессию выбрать. Но о чем они меня попросили, это сделать выбор в пользу специальности, где конкурс не такой большой. В то же время, эта профессия должна была быть надежной, подающей надежды и конечно же серьезной. Мне кажется, что профессия инженера сочетает в себе все эти качества, поэтому я смогла выполнить волю родителей. 

В-третьих, мой выбор зависел от университета, в который я собиралась поступать. Хорошо известно, что ВГТУ один из лучших университетов в нашем городе. К тому же, он один из лучших технических образовательных учреждений в нашей стране, который уважаем нашими коллегами из Санкт-Петербурга и Москвы. Я бы также хотела упомянуть преподавателей, которые действительно делают возможным достичь таких высоких стандартов. Мне определенно повезло иметь дело с такими людьми, потому что они вселяют в меня уверенность, что я получу необходимое (правильное) образование и буду готова к работе. 

Но, честно говоря, самой важной причиной моего выбора стал вопрос, насколько перспективна профессия. Уже не секрет, что инженеры очень нужны в нашем обществе. В настоящее время существует небольшая «передозировка» экономистов и менеджеров, для кого стало очень сложно найти работу. В отличие от таких профессионалов, инженер может найти работу гораздо легче. Кроме того, предполагается, что у хорошего специалиста может быть блестящая карьера. Если ты выполняешь свою работу нужным образом, если делаешь все возможное и у тебя достаточно энергии, у тебя могут быть хорошие перспективы повышения. По натуре я амбициозный человек, поэтому по моему мнению иметь возможность продвижения по карьерной лестнице – основное требование к работе. 

Хотя эта  профессия не самая престижная на данный момент, похоже на то, что она станет таковой. Многие специалисты предсказывают, что инженеры станут наиболее популярны среди работодателей. И даже учитывая то, что инженеры зарабатывают довольно хорошие деньги, они станут более оплачиваемы. Честно говоря, это важная потребность для любого молодого специалиста знать, что его работа может обеспечить его достаточным для жизни количеством денег. Моя главная жизненная цель – стать финансово независимой, что означает быть способной обеспечивать себя и жить полной жизнью. Поэтому я надеюсь, что принята правильное решение. 

В заключении я бы хотела добавить, что профессия инженера тесно связана с экономикой страны. Чем более она развита, тем больше инженеров ей требуется. Мне бы хотелось, чтобы наша страна была настолько процветающей, насколько возможно, и чтобы все профессии нашли свое место под солнцем.
