   We live in a new 16-storeyed block of flats. It's situated in a very picturesque place. There's a big supermarket on the ground floor and it's very convenient to do everyday shopping.

   Our flat is on the fifth floor. It's very comfortable and well-planned. We have all modern conveniences, such as central heating, electricity, gas, cold and hot running water, and a telephone.

   There are three rooms, a kitchen, a bathroom, and a hall in our flat. There's also a balcony and we can enjoy a lovely view of the river.

   The largest room in our flat is the living room, and we use it as a dining room, too. In the middle of the room there is a big table and six chairs around it. Opposite the window there is a wall unit with lots of books, a TV-set, and a DVD-player.

   There are two comfortable armchairs and a small coffee table in the right-hand corner. There is also a sofa and an electric fire in our living room. We like our living room, so in the evenings we gather there to have tea, watch TV, talk, and rest.

   Our kitchen is large and light. It is well-equipped. We have got a refrigerator, a freezer, a microwave oven, a coffeemaker, and a toaster. We haven't got a dishwasher yet, because it is very expensive. But I'm sure we shall buy it in the nearest future.

   My favourite room is the smallest room in our flat, but it is very cosy and light. There is a bed, a wardrobe, a desk, an armchair, and several bookshelves here. There is a thick carpet on the floor.

   The walls in my room are light brown and there are some big posters on them. I like my room very much, but from time to time I change it round. I quite often move the bed and change the posters on the wall.  
 
 
 
 
 
 
 

   Моя любимая комната (2)

   Мы живем  в новом 16-этажном многоквартирном  доме. Он расположен в очень живописном месте. На первом этаже есть большой супермаркет, там очень удобно делать покупки.

   Наша квартира находится на пятом этаже. Она  имеет очень хорошую планировку. У нас есть все современные  удобства, такие как центральное  отопление, электричество, газ, холодная и горячая вода, телефон.

   В квартире три комнаты, кухня, ванная и зал. Есть также балкон, где мы можем  наслаждаться прекрасным видом на реку.

   Самая большая  комната в нашей квартире —  гостиная, мы также пользуемся ею как  столовой. В середине комнаты стоит большой стол с шестью стульями. Напротив окна — стенка с большим количеством книг, телевизором и DVD-плейером.

   В правом углу стоят два удобных кресла и  маленький журнальный столик. В нашей  гостиной есть также диван и электрокамин. Мы любим нашу гостиную, поэтому по вечерам собираемся здесь пить чай, смотреть телевизор, беседовать и отдыхать.

   Кухня у  нас большая и светлая. Она  хорошо оборудована. В ней есть холодильник, морозильная камера, микроволновая  печь, кофеварка и тостер. У нас еще нет посудомоечной машины, потому что она очень дорогая. Но я уверен, что мы купим ее в ближайшем будущем.

   Моя любимая  комната — самая маленькая  в нашей квартире, но она очень  удобная и светлая. Здесь есть кровать, шкаф, стол, кресло и несколько  книжных полок. На полу лежит толстый ковер.

   Стены в моей комнате светло-коричневые и на них наклеены большие плакаты. Мне очень нравится моя комната, но время от времени я делаю  в ней перестановку. Я довольно часто передвигаю кровать и меняю  плакаты на стенах. 
 
 
 
 

   My Room

   We live in big house . The room I like best in our flat is mine.

   I use my room as a study and a bedroom. It is very nice and cosy. There isn't much furniture in it, only the most necessary pieces. The built-in furniture doesn't take much space in the room.

   On the left there is my bed and desk. The desk has a lot of drawers where I keep my text-books, notes, pens, pencils and other necessary things. On the right there is a sofa and a built-in wardrobe. In the right corner there is a comfortable arm-chair. Beside it stands a lamp with blue shade. I like to turn on the lamp, sit in the arm-chair and read an interesting book.

   There are some shelves with books in my room. You can see Russian and English books there. There is a big thick carpet on the floor. There are some posters with my favourite singers on the wall.

   I like my room very much. When my friends come to visit me, I invite them into my room. My room is a nice place for both rest and work.   

   My Future Profession

   Finishing school is the beginning of the independent life for millions of school leavers. Many roads are opened before them: vocational and technical schools, institutes and universities. But it is not an easy thing to choose a profession out of more than 2,000 existing in the world. Some pupils follow the advice of their parents, others can't decide even after leaving school.

   As for me, I made my choice long ago. I want to become a teacher of the Ukrainian language and literature. My choice of this occupation didn't come as a sudden flash. During all school years literature was my favourite subject. I've read a lot of books by Ukrainian and foreign writers. I understand that reading books helps people in self education and in solving different life problems.

   I would like to teach my pupils to enjoy reading, to encourage them to learn our national language and literature, which is the source of national culture. It is known that teaching is a very specific and difficult job. It shouldn't be taken easily. The teacher is a person who is learning as well as teaching all his life.

   Most jobs can be done within the usual office hours from 9 a.m. till 5 p.m., but teacher's work is never done and evenings are usually spent in marking exercise-books and preparing for the next lesson.

   Teachers do not only teach their subjects. They develop their pupils' intellect, form their views and characters, their attitudes to life and to other people. It's a great responsibility and the teacher must be a model of competence himself.

   It's not as easy as it may seem at first. But I think that love for children combined with the knowledge I'll get at the University would be quite enough to succeed in my work.

   I'm applying to the philological department and I am sure my dream will come true sooner or later. 
 

   Моя будущая профессия

   Окончание школы — это начало самостоятельной  жизни для миллионов выпускников. Перед ними открыто много дорог: профучилища и техникумы, институты  и университеты. Но нелегко выбрать  одну профессию из 2000, существующих в мире. Некоторые ученики следуют советам своих родителей, другие же не могут сделать выбор даже после окончания школы.

   Что касается меня, я сделал(а) свой выбор давно. Я хочу стать учителем украинской литературы и языка. Мой выбор  этой профессии не был неожиданностью. Все школьные годы моим любимым предметом была литература. Я читал(а) много книг украинских и зарубежных писателей. Я понимаю, что чтение книг помогает людям в самообразовании и в решении разных жизненных проблем.

   Мне бы хотелось научить детей получать удовольствие от чтения, помочь им выучить родной язык и литературу, который является источником национальной культуры. Известно, что профессия учителя особенная и трудная. К ней нельзя относиться легкомысленно. Учитель — это человек, который учится сам и учит других всю жизнь.

   Большинство работ выполняется в обычные  рабочие часы с 9 утра до 5 вечера, но работа учителя никогда не заканчивается, и вечера обычно заняты проверкой  тетрадей и подготовкой к следующему уроку.

   Учителя не только обучают своему предмету. Они  развивают способности учеников, формируют их взгляды и характер, их отношение к жизни и к  людям. Это большая ответственность, и учитель сам должен быть образцом компетентности.

   Это не так  легко, как кажется на первый взгляд. Но я думаю, что любовь к детям, соединенная со знаниями, которые я получу в университете, поможет мне преуспеть в работе.

   Я поступаю на филологический факультет и я  уверен(а), что моя мечта рано или  поздно осуществится.  

Аbout My Family -

   My family is not very big, just a typical family: Dad, Mom, me, my brother and sister and our cat. My Mummy is forty-one, she is a teacher of Spanish at the University. She is a born teacher. She has teaching abilities. My Dad is forty-two, he is a professional painter, he works for a design company. My parents both like their work very much.

   My elder sister Natasha is nineteen, she goes to the University, she wants to be a teacher of history. She is fond of reading books on history and fiction. My younger brother Igor is only six years old, he goes to the kindergarten. He is very funny, I like to spend my free time teaching him something. Igor likes to play with our cat.

   My grandparents are retired. They like gardening. They spend a lot of their time in the garden. They grow vegetables and fruits. We enjoy having fresh vegetables and green on our dinner table. I love my family very much. We always help each other. Everyone in my family is my best friend.  

   Моя семья

   Моя семья  не очень большая, это типичная семья: папа, мама, я, мои брат, сестра и кот. Моей маме сорок один год, она - учительница испанского языка в университете. Она прирожденная учительница. У нее дар преподавать. Моему отцу - сорок два, он профессиональный художник и работает в оформительском комбинате. Обоим моим родителям очень нравится их работа.

   Моей старшей  сестре Наташе - девятнадцать, она ходит  в университет и хочет стать  учительницей по истории. Ей нравится читать историческую и художественную литературу. Моему младшему братишке Игорю только шесть лет, он ходит в детский сад. Он очень смешной, мне нравится проводить свободное время, обучая его чему-нибудь. Игорю нравится играть с нашим котом.

   Мои бабушка  и дедушка - на пенсии. Им нравится возиться на приусадебном участке. Они проводят много времени в огороде. Они выращивают овощи и фрукты. Мы наслаждаемся тем, что на нашем столе всегда свежие овощи и зелень. Я очень люблю свою семью. Мы всегда помогаем друг другу. Каждый член моей семьи - мой лучший друг.
