It’s a well known fact that the theatre has always struck the attention of people from medieval and antique times and continues doing it even now. But unfortunately today this form of art doesn’t enjoy wide popularity as it did in the past. It is obvious that the main reason of it is that the 20th century brought great changes in our lives such as the birth of the cinematography which is considered to be the synthesis of the literature, arts, theatre and the music and which rapidly became popular and replaced the theatre. And later when people got a possibility to enjoy the cinema sitting at home they totally started forgetting about this wonderful form of art. But still there are people who prefer to enjoy the real acting of the cast that brings more pleasure and positive emotions than the cinematography.
Going to the Theatre
But speaking about me, unfortunately, I can’t say that I’m a real theatre goer. It happens not because I don’t like it on the contrary I adore theatre, but unfortunately I don’t have an opportunity to go there frequently.
Generally, I must say that the whole atmosphere of the theatre have always impressed me greatly. The originally and beautifully decorated stages give us a feeling of something new and unknown. Moreover, it’s a good opportunity to enjoy a real acting of the cast. The main difference between the theatre and the cinema is the absence of the 2nd take. And this fact makes me respect this form of art even more. The theatre has always considered to be one of the strongest ways to influence the human as when we see what is going on on the stage we usually associate this or that character with ourselves. So after watching a performance we can make some conclusions that can have an intense influence on our lives.
Besides, it’s a good way to familiarize us with the classical literature as most of the performances are based on the selected works of famous writers from all over the world.
Additionally, I would like to admit that there are several forms of the theatrics such as the ballet, the opera, the puppet theater and the drama theatre itself so that everybody can choose something that will suite his/her taste.
From my point of view it is very interesting to watch the actors trying to reproduce the feelings and emotions of real life for the audience keeping tabs on every motion. Besides it’s always a pleasure for me to attend performances with beautifully decorated stages and to see the actors wearing gorgeous costumes that you can’t even look away till the end of the performance.
Though I go to the theatre rather rarely I must say that I still have my favourite one. This theatre is called the Janka Kupala theatre and it is one of the oldest theatres in Minsk. It was opened in 1890 and just immediately a great number of famous actors from Moscow, St. Petersburg and the Ukraine started to come to a new-build theatre in order to take part in the performances. I believe that the combination of the originally decorated stage of this theatre and the professional performing of the cast can strike the attention of the most casual observer. The diversity of the repertory of this theatre can attract the attention of even the most sophisticated audience as it varies from drama and tragedy to the musical and comedy. As you enter the theatre you will be received by a rather polite usher in a beautifully decorated foyer where you can take your overclothes off and can be sure that the seats will be shown to you as quickly as you need it. Moreover, there are incredibly comfortable stalls and balconies ready to receive the theatre lovers and those who came to diversify the spare time. And furthermore there is an inconceivably cozy box for those who want to delight in the performance in full.
In conclusion, I’d like to say that though today the cinematography probably predominates over the theatre still there are such people who are interested in it and will never let it die.
